Paul J. Schmick
As Executive Vice President, Chief Security & Technology Officer, Paul holds responsibilities over Alliance's physical security division, consulting and risk management programs, and the company's technology division which deploys security technology platforms to the Alliance Building Services portfolio of clients. Paul joined Alliance in January of 2016 as Vice President of Security Technology and in 2021 was promoted to Senior Vice President, Security & Technology. In 2025, Paul was promoted to Executive Vice President, Chief Security & Technology Officer and leads all verticals of security at Alliance.
Paul is a key architect of Alliance's next phase of transformation. As Co-Chair of the Transformation Team at Alliance Building Services, he leads the evaluation and implementation of enterprise platforms that streamline workflows to reduce operational friction and elevate performance across the organization. His work is central to modernizing the company's operating model — positioning Alliance at the forefront of technology-enabled building services while driving measurable gains in efficiency, scalability, and client performance across the enterprise.
Prior to Alliance, Paul served eight years with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security — Transportation Security Administration. In his last role with the department, Paul was responsible for the implementation of aviation security policy and led training programs and personnel at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, successfully enhancing the department's defense against threats targeting U.S. aviation assets and infrastructure. Recognized as one of the most decorated TSA officers at JFK since the agency's inception in 2001, Paul played a key role in strengthening frontline defense capabilities against evolving national security threats.
In addition to his industry leadership, Paul has made significant contributions to the academic community. He served for a decade as an Associate Professor for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security — Transportation Security Administration Partnership Program at Des Moines Area Community College, instructing coursework in the disciplines of border security and transportation security. He also held the role of Academic Chair of Homeland Security and Security Management at the Long Island Business Institute in New York.
Paul holds a B.A. in Homeland Security & Emergency Management, an M.S. in Homeland Security Management, and an M.S. in Cybersecurity, reflecting a multidisciplinary foundation across security, risk, and technology.
A recognized industry voice, Paul has served as a media contributor to CNN and NBC, providing expert analysis on aviation security, border security, and national security policy. He also serves on the Cybersecurity Advisory Council at PSA Security Network and the Executive Council of the Security Industry Association.
